Tammy’s career in healthcare has been extensive and varied with all experiences serving to prepare her for her role here at Total Health. She began working as a CNA for Stillwater Medical Center in the early 1980’s before graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Central State University in 1986. She worked as a RN in intensive care, ER and finally as director of a home health agency when the longing to deliver undivided care and education to patients lead her to further her education and become an occupational therapist.
Tammy graduated from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 1999 with a B.S. in Occupational Therapy and began working at Stillwater Medical Center. She has worked as an occupational therapist in a variety of settings including acute care, rehab, home health, long term care, and school based therapy. She joined the team at Total Health in 2006 helping individuals regain functional use of their upper extremities to return to meaningful activities. In 2009, she was able to combine her nursing and therapy backgrounds as she became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist and began treating individuals who have difficulty managing swelling caused by a variety of complex medical conditions. Over the course of 5 years, the need for this type of treatment grew and Tammy now spends most work days treating only people with lymphedema.
In her free time, Tammy enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 young adult children along with their dogs, chickens, and cows. She loves “dirt therapy” working on their land and in her flower beds and garden. You will find her in the kitchen or working on some DIY project when the weather forces her inside. Her friends and family look forward to those “indoor days” of good treats from the kitchen
